This is a delightful cottage for two people and one pet. It now has a lockable cycle shed next to the newly created drive and parking space

Tweed Cottage is a charming 19th century terraced cottage in the centre of the quiet conservation village of Paxton, only four miles from the A1 and the coast.   There are lovely riverside walks by Paxton House nearby and afternoon tea is available there, or  on the converted bus cafe at the Chain Bridge Honey Farm up river.

This cosy cottage is fully modernised to a high four star standard. Free WiFi is provided. The kitchen area has granite worktops and modern appliances including dishwasher. The lounge has been redecorated and  freshly carpeted for 2016. New sofa and armchairs together with modern oak furniture makes it very comfortable. The outside has now  been whitewashed to make it very appealing.

The open plan lounge/dining area has flat screen TV and blu-ray DVD player and attractive original stone fire place which is fitted with a mock woodburner stove. Naturally there is full central heating and double gazing throughout, making it ideal for an out of season or Festive break. Stairs take you up to the double bedroom with another flat screen TV with Freeview. Free WiFi is provided of course

You will find a designer shower room off the newly decorated bedroom that has a luxury walk in shower with modern ‘rainhead’. The vanity area has smart lighting and mirror and a large heated towel rail keeps the organic Egyptian towels warm. Organic toiletries made by local soapmaker, Sara of The SoapFactory, are ready to sample. White cotton bed linen is included in the tariff.

All guests receive a ‘Welcome Basket’ which includes a selection of Border specialities such as organic eggs, home made jam, local honey shortbread biscuits made by local baker, Fords of Norham and the famous ‘Berwick Cockles’sweeties. You can also sample one of our local ales, Tempest Brewery from Kelso or from Hetton Law in Northumberland. Treats are also provided for our dog guest.

Starter supplies of tea, ground coffee, milk and sugar ready for use in the kitchen area. Parking for one car is provided next to the garden which is 25 yards away from the cottage. There is a lockable cycle shed provided and information about local cycle ways can be found on http://www.visitberwick.com/sports-activities/cycling.  One dog is more than welcome at no charge. A second small pet may be accepted at a single charge of £25.

The village inn welcomes dogs. The Cross  serves excellent meals and cask ales. We are happy to make a reservation for you to avoid a disappointment

Paxton is a delightful village near to the River Tweed.

Paxton House is within walking distance.

The village pub which serves meals is only two minutes walk away and accepts dogs. The historic town of Berwick-upon Tweed is ten minutes drive away and Alnwick Gardens only 45 miles away.

Most visitors want to explore the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and its nature reserve which is 12 miles from the cottage
