A charming cottage situated in the old part of Paxton, village of Peace, with a delightful garden, unusually, not connected to the house but a few yards down the lane!-BBQ and garden furniture is available in the warmer months.
 
The kitchen area is newly equipped and fitted with granite worktops, dishwasher, hob, oven, toaster, microwave, washing machine and kettle. The lounge area is freshly carpeted and comfortably furnished. Sit on the leather armchairs and watch the flat screen tv with freeview and Blu-ray DVD/CD player. A stylish feature fire is also wall mounted. The dining table is laid in readiness for the guests’ arrival. A Welcome Basket of Border Specialities such as local honey and chutney, homemade jam and mustard and tasty locally made biscuits is provided. Tea, ground coffee, milk and free range eggs are supplied. Wine is available to buy for that cosy night at home and there is an ice bucket, too!
 
The staircase leads from the lounge area to the first floor where the comfortable double bedroom is located. There is a good range of cupboards and drawers for storage. A second wall-mounted television with freeview is provided in the bedroom. A choice of duvet or blankets is offered. Tea making facilities and a hairdryer are provided in the bedroom.
 
The en-suite bathroom has been redesigned with a power shower that has a "rain head" and separate body spray, a vanity wash-basin and a feature towel rail to provide lots of warmth. Hand-made soap, made by Purity Soaps of Berwick for Border Holiday Homes, fluffy towels and face flannels are provided.
 
Off street parking for one car is provided. One well behaved pet is welcome at no extra charge.
 
There is an excellent CAMRA listed pub in the village which serves tasty bar and restaurant meals featuring local produce.

The Union Bridge (known as the Chain Bridge)
 
The former mill on the River Whiteadder with its delightful bridge makes a very pleasant walk from the cottage alongside rolling fields and into a pretty wooded glen.

and Vintage Vehicle Display just over the Chain Bridge is about 10 minutes by car or about 20 minutes on foot through the gardens of Paxton House and alongside the River Tweed.
 
Norham Castle makes a more challenging walk along the banks of the Tweed – beautiful scenery all the way.  
 
There are two pubs in Norham, both with good beer and some food, plus Foreman's renowned butcher's shop.
 
The Elizabethan walls of Berwick-upon-Tweed and the historic town with its good rail connections are only 6 miles away.
 
The old county town of Duns is only fifteen minutes drive away. There are lovely walks around Duns Castle, a nature reserve, and a lovely lake known as 'the hen poo'. While in Duns call at the trophy room dedicated to the life of Jim Clark, world racing driver
Out and about
 
Sandy Beaches at Coldingham and the Smugglers Tunnel at Cove Harbour, Manderston House (television’s “Edwardian Country House” and Balmoral in the film, “Mrs. Brown”) near Duns. This has a silver staircase and marble dairy which are very special and all close by.
 
The Water Mill at East Linton, and Dunbar town, home of John Muir, the founder of ecology and the National Parks of USA are a little further away - about 30 minutes by car.
 
Thirlestane House, Floors Castle, near Kelso, Holy Island (Lindisfarne), Bamburgh and Alnwick Castles (for Alnwick Garden), Ford and Etal villages - steam railway with tea rooms and watermill – the mill produces the flour that is used to make the biscuits in our Welcome basket are all within 25 miles.
